The humanitarian challenges facing Syria over the past decade have required resilience, coordination, and global solidarity. Among the leading forces working to restore stability and opportunity in the region is the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Through strategic development initiatives, economic recovery programs, and community-based rebuilding efforts, the UNDP continues to play a critical role in supporting the Syrian people as they rebuild their lives and communities.
Operating under the broader framework of the United Nations, the UNDP focuses not only on emergency response but also on long-term development. In Syria, this approach is essential. The path forward requires more than short-term relief—it requires sustainable economic systems, restored infrastructure, and renewed hope for families and future generations.
The United Nations Development Programme Syria works directly within local communities to rehabilitate schools, restore access to clean water, rebuild public utilities, and create employment opportunities. These efforts empower Syrians to actively participate in rebuilding their own communities, reinforcing dignity and self-sufficiency rather than dependency.
At Thompson Square Gardens Restaurant Company, we are proud to name UNDP Syria as our official TSG Charity Spotlight pick. As a company rooted in service, nourishment, and community development, we believe in supporting organizations that align with our mission to uplift lives both locally and globally.
Food, stability, and opportunity are interconnected. A thriving community depends on reliable infrastructure, economic access, and employment. UNDP Syria’s livelihood programs—particularly those that support small businesses, agricultural initiatives, and workforce development—mirror our belief that economic empowerment is one of the most powerful forms of humanitarian support.
One of the most inspiring aspects of UNDP Syria’s work is its commitment to resilience-building. Rather than focusing solely on aid distribution, the organization invests in vocational training, renewable energy projects, and local entrepreneurship programs. These initiatives provide individuals with the tools they need to rebuild sustainable futures.
Communities across Syria have benefited from debris removal projects, rehabilitation of marketplaces, and restoration of public facilities. These efforts not only create jobs but also restore dignity and normalcy to daily life. When markets reopen and schools function again, hope begins to take root.
At Thompson Square Gardens Restaurant Company, we understand the power of economic ecosystems. Just as a restaurant relies on farmers, suppliers, cooks, and service teams working in harmony, a nation’s recovery depends on coordinated development efforts. UNDP Syria exemplifies that model of integrated rebuilding.
Our support for this initiative reflects our broader corporate philosophy: business must be a vehicle for impact. Through our TSG Charity Spotlight, we intentionally align with organizations that are transparent, community-centered, and committed to measurable outcomes. UNDP Syria meets those standards with integrity and global accountability.
Syria’s recovery is not a short-term project—it is a generational journey. Investments in youth employment, women-led enterprises, and infrastructure rehabilitation are essential components of long-term peace and prosperity. UNDP Syria continues to champion inclusive development so that no community is left behind.
We stand with UNDP Syria because we believe in restoring opportunity. We believe in rebuilding markets, empowering families, and supporting local leaders who are committed to positive change. These are not abstract ideals; they are tangible actions that transform lives.
As a restaurant company with expanding initiatives and partnerships, we recognize the responsibility that comes with growth. With every expansion, collaboration, and contract, we seek to extend our impact beyond commerce. Supporting global development initiatives strengthens our commitment to service at every level.
Through highlighting UNDP Syria as our TSG Charity Spotlight, we encourage our community, partners, and patrons to learn more about sustainable development efforts in the region. Awareness is the first step toward meaningful engagement and global solidarity.
At Thompson Square Gardens Restaurant Company, we proudly stand with the United Nations Development Programme Syria in its mission to restore dignity, rebuild communities, and cultivate opportunity. In a world that thrives when we uplift one another, we believe that standing together—across borders and industries—is not only powerful, but necessary.
Project HOPE: Advancing Global Health, Restoring Hope
At Thompson Square Gardens Management Company, we’re committed to highlighting exceptional charities making a powerful difference in communities around the world. This month, we are proud to shine our TSG Charity Spotlight on Project HOPE, a global health and humanitarian nonprofit that has been saving lives and strengthening health systems for more than six decades.
Founded in 1958 by Dr. William B. Walsh, Project HOPE began with a pioneering vision: to bring quality medical care directly to underserved communities by means of the SS HOPE, the world’s first peacetime hospital ship. Over the course of 14 years and 11 voyages, health professionals delivered care, trained local health workers, and built goodwill in nations across the globe.
Since those early days, Project HOPE has evolved into a leading global health organization headquartered in the United States, with a presence in more than 25 countries and a dedicated team of over 1,000 professionals working to improve health where it’s most needed.
At the core of Project HOPE’s work is the belief that health is a fundamental human right and that empowering local health workers is essential to creating lasting change. Their mission focuses on strengthening local health systems and placing power in the hands of communities to save lives now and in the future.
One of the hallmark strengths of Project HOPE is its emergency response capacity. Whether responding to natural disasters, disease outbreaks, or conflict-driven humanitarian crises, Project HOPE delivers urgent medical care, essential supplies, and rapid support to protect vulnerable populations in times of greatest need.
Project HOPE’s work spans multiple facets of global health. They address infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, promote maternal and child health, and help communities prevent and manage non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.
In recent years, Project HOPE has been deeply involved in global emergencies, including coordinated responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and humanitarian support for populations affected by conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Through these efforts, they have reached millions of individuals with lifesaving support and care.
